He is famous because of the fire, hence the name "Yandi" (Yan Emperor). The place where he was born is called Lie Mountain, meaning setting fire to burn the mountain.

The Yan Lake (hot lake, namely, Dongting Lake) truly lives up to its name for its hot temperature all the year round. It is said that a layer of dense mist floats on the lake, similar to vapor clouds. Han Yu, a great poet in the Tang dynasty, once wrote in his poem "a cloud of mist arises from the Yan Lake".
