This is one of the traditional Chinese paintings carrying auspicious meanings. It consists of lotus flowers, osmanthus flowers, sheng (a reed pipe instrument), and children. In Chinese, the "lotus" and "succession" have the same pronunciation, so do "osmanthus" and "noble", and "sheng" and "giving birth". So it is a pun. Lotus seeds suggest giving successive birth while osmanthus flowers imply precious sons.
